Dandelions

The dandelions I grew in a pot so that I could take pictures of the seed heads. This is work in progress but thought I'd at least show you the pot. Hoping for a nice day on Monday as I have other ideas now. What I really want is bokeh in the background.

Youngster

Photographer at Yosemite

Photo Friday's challenge for the day is "Youngster." I took this
picture of a boy at Yosemite (with his parent's permission.) He's not
only a youngster, but also a photographer.

I bet y'all have youngsters to post for the theme 'youngster'!?!

Grackle, Texas

The Grackles in Texas were MUCH larger than our grackles, and also, noisier, louder, more aggressive. Their tails were longer. But they were hard to capture on film--I tired and tried until finally, this one sat for me--at a distance. (Click image to view larger.)

Do you have grackles where you are?

Silver Birches top of Smith's Hill, Parker Road, Mondovi, WI

I love the whiteness of north american silver birches. Ours always look dirty in comparison and some people wash them if they are in their gardens!! This is one picture taken moving the camera up on a slow speed blended with another one at normal speed. 23 April 2011.

Another Version

Tried to add this to previous post but still can't upload the pictures that way. I decided to blur the curtain and I added even more structure to Alec plus I added noise to the curtains so that the blur didn't stand out so much.

Alec in the Spotlight

This was taken when all the family came over Christmas Day. I ran it through Nik Silver Effects pro to change it to mono. I gave it some high structure and added a vignette.

PROJECT TO DO

The old lady was taken in Bath. I dulled down the background by reducing the saturation and added a bit of smoky mist. I called it recollection and got 8.5 in the club comp. The other picture was taken at a hospitality lounge at the boat show. As soon as I saw the scene I thought of this old lady and wondered if I can transform her into the scene. This is only just the beginnings of it and it waiting for me to work on.

Family Shots

Two shots of the family at our Christmas celebration in our house on 2 January once we had returned from Spain. Alec is using Charlotte's Iphone and making funny faces with an app. Holly at her house later in January plus her dog Hatty – same kind of dog as Barbara's. Holly was helping me to get the shot by holding biscuits up.

Christmas 2010

Barbara I saw that doorway and immediately thought of you so took the shot. Hope it comes up to your standard. The rest are Sitges. The one of Mia on the beach in her winter coat was taken on Christmas Day while walking back from the restaurant. The two guys in the passageway are in Barcelona. I am entering that one in mono in our next club mono competition. The guy on the telephone was actually not showing so much as that. I moved his body out a bit and stuck somebody else's head on him. To me it still does not look real but am hoping the judge will not notice.

Holly and Thomas helping clear the snow in our front garden

19th December 2010. Snow is long since gone. We haven't had any since the New Year. Plus a frosty morning shot in Messing on 7th December 2010.

Avebury Stone Circle

Some more pics including original of Avebury Stone Circle. Boy I hope this works. I don't seem to be able to upload the pictures any more to photique. So am going back to trying it this way by email. Brilliant - guess I will keep to doing it this way. As I said it is impossible to get the whole of the stone circle in one. It covers quite a lot of ground and there are two roads that pass through it.

Free Kick

Fabiana on the beach late afternoon on Christmas Day. It was so lovely and warm on the beach front all day long the sun is on it. But up in the old town where Andrew and Layla's apartment is the alleyways are so narrow and the buildings tall so no sun and no way of knowing what the weather is like. Fine for the summer but cold in the winter.
