Brackley Beach

Most beaches have a boardwalk to walk on so as not to walk over the dunes, which are eroding at a fast rate due to weather.
There are thin fences that also are lined beside the dunes along the beach to keep the kids and dogs and people off.

I find it kind of sad that all that is needed for a beach. But it certainly looks great sand to run on in bare feet once you finally reach it. And I suppose it is good not to have everyone walking all over the sand dunes. I think they should have had a sort of gallows sticking out with a rope on the end for people to slide down rather than all that.

So many people are making what was once taken for granted--lovely beaches--an endangered species!

well alot of it is natural deterioration: wind, surf waves, tides. I believe there were natural grasses at one time, but some is gone and they are trying to preserve the remaining grasses as it holds the dunes together..

At first Val I wondered why on earth you would need to walk on a built up wooden construction, but we are suffering from the same problem here in NZ - mostly they just yellow tape or fence the areas off and put pathways thru - planting of different types of grasses is done in the hope that it will support some of the dunes.
