And So This is England a Week too Early

Needless to say we were at a standstill. Chrissy and I had to go clean the church this morning. Couldn't get the car out to put the vacuum in and couldn't open Don's gate to borrow his wheelbarrow. So I carried broom mop etc etc and Chrissy brought her vacuum in a wheelbarrow and we trundled down in our boots. Geoff and I went to the pub at lunch time and I finally managed to get up to the wood this afternoon. It was a winter wonderland.

Hey welcome back! Long time no hear! Thanks! The sad thing is that the woods in these pictures are now in complete devastation. The forestry commission have come in and logged the conifers. That's OK we always knew they were going to do that. They want to get the woods back to native trees. They have taken away the decent trunks and left the rest so that you cannot even find the paths that had been developed over the years. And it was so wet when they had all the big machinery on there that there are 6 foot dips in the ground filled with water. Apparently they are not likely to come and tidy up. But we cannot complain as it is a private woods run by the forestry commission and we do not have any rights to walk there although they do not mind us walking there. It will be good to see all the saplings coming up but it will be years before it looks beautiful again in there.

That's so sad to hear about! We were really sad when a SINGLE large oak two houses away was cut down to make room for a bigger garage.
